Logbook 4.2 Now Available

The latest Logbook release is now available having been tested on both the Access and Oracle platforms.

Changes to the Reporting system include:
1) simplified interface
2) cross chapter reporting & direct link to Search screen to populate reports
3) Word 2007 support
4) reports assigned to chapter types so you only see the reports that are relevant

Changes to the Forms functionality include:
1) default a field to the corresponding field on an earlier page
2) multiple select lists
3) new type of date field that allows blank dates and user typed dates
4) page auto-completion based on the contents of a particular field
5) new field types for storing files [which can be published to Intranet/web], links to web pages, links to documents or links to Logbook pages
6) further validation options e.g. disallow future dates, warn if page is intended for entry NOT today

Search changes:
1) current chapter search from main screen searches all form fields, highlighting where text is found and will also find text in form comments
2) search screen allows drill down or expansion of previous search results
3) search for 'missing' fields (e.g. sign fields not signed)
4) option to search through deleted or amended data
5) option to search on the current chapter only

Misc changes:
1) left hand panel on main screen can be configured based on chapter type to show chronological index, alphabetical index, audit data or be invisible.
2) lists of data can be maintained within logbook (e.g. options in form lists fields etc)
3) Excel spreadsheets can be read to populate fields, chapter variables etc
4) record numbers may be assigned to chapter fields, Logbook will maintain them. Format is user definable.
5) Select chapter screen has a collapse button to collapse the chapter tree.

Logbook 4.2 includes a host of other functional changes to improve ease of use and expand functionality.
